TODAY IS FREE DAY!!
Waking up to the sound of honking traffic and sun shining through the blinds, I managed to get myself up from my comfortable bed that I melted into during the night and start my free day adventures. Even after all the past days of walking the city of New Orleans, my roommate Mindy and I decided to continue to add to the miles walked and explore more of the city on our own time frame. My favorite thing we did today was lunch at the American Sports Saloon. As we walked into the saloon, it was empty. No workers, no people, just a room of silence. A man walked out of the back room with a big smile on his face and greeted us. One thing I wanted to do before leaving New Orleans was eat on a balcony over looking the city and today that was accomplished. The owner was around 40 years of age, worn a New Orleans Saints Jersey and jeans. Mindy and I asked if the balcony was open, luckily the man replied "only for you two pretty ladies." When walking up to the balcony, the wood floors creaked with each step. Opening the doors to the outside was like a breath of fresh air, comforting and enjoyable. The balcony overlooked Decatur street, in which people were shopping, walking, laughing, and talking. The breeze was warm, the temperature was 70 degrees, and the atmosphere reflected a relaxing day. I ordered to eat a chicken club sandwich and the saloons famous loaded fries. The sandwich was outlined with toasted bread and aligned with moist chicken, lettuce, juicy tomatoes, crunchy bacon and a layer of mayonnaise. The waffle fries were crunchy as well and covered with melted cheese, red onion and tomato. To say the least, the food was amazing.
