January 2nd Experiences

Outer Journey #2, January 2nd 2020

My heart began to race as the car came to a stop in the Methodist College parking lot this morning with worries of not knowing the new faces I was about to encounter. Question filled my head, "who are these people?", "will they like me?", "I wonder how this trip is going to be?", "maybe I shouldn't have signed up?", "what grade are the other students in?".... Feeling strangled with my own fears and anxieties. Relief rushed upon me like a ocean wave knocking me over when walking into an unfamiliar setting and seeing smiling friendly faces. Moments after arriving and taking my seat towards the back of the class room, our first and only classroom day was in session! The room was filled with students and laughter of excitement filled the air. They way the student's were communicating, I could feel the happiness radiating off their body with hopes of making new memories on this upcoming journey that started now. Students hands flew up in the air, questions were shouted out and discussions were made among strangers who I now call my fellow classmates.

My excitement continued to brew the closer I got to Champaign. The downtown streets of Champaign gave me a big city vibe. The buildings were large, towering over us as we walked our way down the cracked sidewalk to a moon light building called the Seven Saints. Upon entering, we were greeted with heavy velvet curtains that draped the entrance into a table lined room. The lights had a dim glow which set the mood for a relaxing dinner. With each mouth full my belly filled with warm salty bites of pretzel.

The trip has finally begun!
